22LR ammo standard and hyper velocity difference

I just bought a Henry Survival Rifle so I can have something to shoot while waiting for my other gun's barrel to cool. I am a newbie to the 22LR caliber. I need some insights between the normal and the hyper velocity rounds, any difference with accuracy and barrel-wear? I appreciate all inputs.

Welcome to the wonderful world of rimfire. With modern steels no differencein barrel wear.Big difference in how they shoot. Just buy several different kinds & see what shoots best in your gun.Sometimes the cheap stuff shoots best. Good Luck!

I don't like the Aguila SSS ammo. I keep a log of all my kills, and every varmint I've ever shot with it, I had to kill by hand. It didn't penetrate worth nothin. Its not very humane for an animal to suffer like that. Unless I'm target shooting, I just use Federal Lightning,it works great, feeds good in everything too. Other than that I like Eley. Haven't ever tried the Federal Gold Medal yet, or the Wolf Match yet.

22 lr barrels will not wear out.most 22s that i shoot prefer standard velocity ammo. once in a while you will find one that likes hyper velocity.I shoot rem.target or cci green tag.price is why i don't shoot ely match.
