Are there any peep sights that will fit on a Remington Model 8 or 81?
Thanks

Wow! Tall order. Let's see......peep sights are usually rear sights that have a hole in them that you look through to see the front sight. They are good for fast shots and lend themselves to better use by older eyes than do conventional iron sights, as the human eye tends to center things when looking through a hole. They have been widely used on U.S. military rifles and are capable of fine accuracy. They have also been widely used on hunting rifles, although few come so equipped. In the forests of the western U.S. there are still many hunters who purchase and mount peep sights on their .30-30 carbines. These are located toward the rear of the receiver vs. the factory sight which is located on the barrel, and has the added benefit of increasing the sight radius. Peep sights are made by Williams and Lyman among others, and are readily available from a number of sources such as Brownells. [This message has been edited by Der Gebirgsjager (edited 10-09-2001).]

I love peep sights, I personally found them better for slower shots, but that just personal preference. I'd definatly recomend that if you have any .22's with those funky semi-buckhorn front sights mounted on the barrel, go ahead and have your reciever taped, and mount a micrometer adjustable peep on it, you'll be supprised the difference.

Peeps are used primarily on target rifles and more sophisticated plinkers....I've tried them on hunting rifles, but wouldn't recommend it...not enough light in dawn-dusk situations unless the hole is pretty large.
