Shotgun Nomenclature

I have a Mississippi Valley Arms double barrel shotgun listed for sale. Item #2199225. I am selling this for a friend and he tells me that this shotgun has a SIDE LOCK ACTION, my problem is I see nothing on the action that locks or slides. I will cancel this auction if I have misrepresented the item. Thanks Larry

    Apparently there should be four pictures of the shotgun. However, I could not get any of them to show up.

    In addition to Saxonpig's accurate description, there are shotguns out there that have sideplates, which give the gun the appearance of the more expensive and desirable sidelock, but are in reality nothing more than boxlocks "dressed up".
