Friend of mine has one of these in his cabinet that was handed down a couple of times in his family. Fires nice still. Was wondering if anyone has info on it as all I have been able to find is a few forum posts on other sites and a Sears ad from 1938 selling them new for $5.65.
Only marking are the shell size and "Ranger 101.2"

Looking up more to see what I can find. Curiosity got the best of me. I am getting no work done today.
EDIT---
Stevens Model 39 is the Ranger 101.12 but still having trouble finding much info except that the Model 39A was made from about 1938 to 1945. Did not really find any photos (other than the Sears catalog scan).
I bet this is the critter.
Printed that and we'll see what else we can find since no one living in his family knows where it originally came from. Probably not worth a lot, even though it is in good shape, but I don't think he would ever part with it (until he gives it to his son, I am sure)
