The ONLY reason for the focus adjustment is to focus your eye to the crosshair (on a AO scope the AO is used to focus the target to the crosshair). You don't use the focus to sharpen your view of the target.

Do they move with focus or do they move with adjustments in power? I am wondering if you have a first focal point scope.

Are you talking about the rear focus knob or and Adjustable Objective type scope?

Sounds like you got a busted scope, that should not be happening.

you would be much better off useing it for a hammer to pound rail road spikes than a scope ...even when new[}:)]

Never had much success with Tasco scopes. Leupold or Burris are much better.

Time to see if they will replace the scope for free. Many will if you have a cross-hairs problem.

I had a Bushnell that the first time I took it into the Oregon woods the condensation made the cross-hairs just run down the glass. I guess the scope seal was broken and the nitrogen leaked out.
I called Bushnell and they sent me a new scope immediately, no questions asked and they did not even want the old scope.

Worth a try unless the scope is older than the hills!
