headstamps on 6.5 dutch?

i have a box of dutch 6.5 military ammo.there are 2 different headstamps in the box. 1) 28 over A65 2) 29 over P . what is the origin of this ammo? thanks

What you have is 6.5x53.5Rmm Dutch/Romanian ammunition. This cartridge has many names depending on the country which was using it. Here are some of the synonyms:

The year of manufacture is 1928 and 1929. The brass lot number is at 6 o'clock and it is hard to tell who that may be. The Dutch were secretive about their headstamp information (and still are) and more is not known than known about their various codes.

I am guessing they were probably manufactured by Artillerie - Inrichtingen, Netherlands Military Arsenal, NV, (Now Eurometaal NV) P. O. Box 419, 1500 EH Zaandam, The Netherlands. This arsenal would also use the letter "A" on their ammunition as well as A-69 and A-70. The Dutch also use the headstamp "AI" but this topic gets very confusing.

I have several in my collection which are headstamped "28A 6B A1 38" and "38A AI" to convey the complexity of their coding system.
