Browning SA-22 clone barrel lock disassembly?

I'm having an issue with my Norinco ATD --- the Browning SA-22 clone.
What is the proper way to remove the barrel lock from the barrel lock ring assembly?

I was going to drift it out with a punch but am not sure which direction it goes to release.
Do I strike at the flat area or at the end with the serrations for your thumb?

What I'm trying to do is rebuild the barrel lock mechanism on a reallyl nice 2nd ATD that I got a smoking deal on.
Whoever had it before me must've liked it a lot, they even put a folding Browning rear sight on it.

I already have both springs (adjusting & barrel lock), the adjusting ring follower & barrel lock plunger --- the two detents that go with the springs --- coming from MGW --- I just need some help with the ins & outs of disassembling the barrel lock and setting it back up again.
