Light Contour vs "Regular" barrel?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

What are the differences in the 1187 Remington with the Light Contour barrel as opposed to the "regular" barrel? Do the same forearms work? Any other parts different?

Thanks

    rmckuin,

Hello, and welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker.

The light contour forearm will not work with the regular contour barrel, and the regular contour forearm should only be used in a pinch with the light countour barrel. The rest of the parts are the same. The light contour barrel, will save you a little extra weight.

I have asked these questions because of the fact that I bought this 1187 used, and as I checked it out, I noticed that it did not have a "forend support?" I was thinking that maybe because it had a Light Contour barrel that it didn't have this specific part?? From what I am reading, nothing except the barrel itself and the forend are different?

What purpose does the forend support piece serve anyway??

Thanks to all that have responded here and privately!
