globe front sight bases

I recently acquired a Rem 721 in 30-06 with a nice set of open sights A redfield olympic rear and a Lyman 77 Globe front sight. However, the base on the front is so low I can't lower the elevation to below 300 yds. with a severe 6 o'clock hold.
Does anybody know where you can get different height bases for these. The barrel is .905 where the sight sits on it and the current base is .175" high. I think it's a williams but when I went to their website I couldn't find one with a wide enough radius.
Any ideas where I can find a .450" or higher base?

The Lyman 20 is a bit wider than the 17, might be a touch too big for the front of your 721.
Thanks for the link. I had looked on Brownells last night but couldn't find just the base. BTW, the end of my barrel is .905D
Steve Earle would make about anything you wanted at one time. He might be devoting all his time to Frank Wesson single shot rifles now, but you could check with him at:

Thanks for the replys. Trap I wish I could do that one but what I have is a screw in. In fact I ordered the .450" one but had to cancel as I saw the screw holes were too far apart. Hawk I'll give him a jingle (via e-mail) and see what he says.
I may have the problem solved though. I got hold of someone at Lyman, the sight-maker, and got a number of a guy who has all kinds of these bases. If Steve Earle can't help that's the route I'll go.

Thanks for that link. He sounds a lot like what I think may have solved my problem. I will certainly keep it filed so I can reference it in the future.
