are the slides 'supposed' to numbered to the frame like the Colts are?
I just inspected one with no #'s in the normal places (under the firing pin retainer, underside of the slide).

    No.
All you have to go on with a RR is the slide logo versus the serial number style and range. And the "wear patterns" the collectors talk about.

Note that Colt only numbered slides 1937-1943.

Saw one at the local yesterday. Since it was priced North of two grand I didn't look any further. Since the shop's closed all next week I'll see (if it's still there) your query. Unless the shop you were at is the same one I'm going back to.

"Unless the shop you were at is the same one I'm going back to."....I DOUBT IT (FT. Mohave, Az) the owner picked up 2 a colt (frame & slide #'ed) and the R/R (unnumbered) with a H.S. barrel and crossed cannons
    so I assume a rebuild.
    thanks
