Alright, I have a rifle up for auction that is C&R Eligbile, that?s all I know (it?s also a rifle btw). I do not have a C&R or FFL. If the bidders that wins has a C&R do I just ship it to them without having to send the rifle through an FFL dealer or what?

A friend of mine just got his C&R. Where can you get a Bound Book? Is there anything he needs to do before using his C&R?

Can a C&R holder receive an elidgible firearm for a non licencee the same way an FFL does? Or would the C&R holder have to buy the gun and then sell it to the non licencee?

Anybody acquainted with CR FFL process? I have forms from BATF. Should I go speak with Chief of Police (aquaintance of mine from many NRA dinners)before I begin. He does have to sign off on it anyway. I do live in that great, freedom loving state of New Jersey...only because of family and work, believe me.

I do collect a fair amount, enjoy the older military stuff to shoot w/ my kids and would like, at some point to get into full auto. I do have addresses in NY and PA. but need to be squeaky clean and to the law as my profession requires fiduciary licensing.

Any help, tips etc. would be greatfully appreciated.

    Merry Christmas to all![:)][?]

I'm selling an old Martini (over 50 years old) with a new .222 Remington barrel. Prospective buyers are telling me it's a C&R. Is it? If you say "yes", please post an ATF reference.

    Thanks

Yes, you can send the rifle directly to the C&R. Include a copy of your Drivers License. The C&R holder will then log it into his records. The C&R IS a FFL. Just not a dealer.

What he said up there ^^^. A Dealer is an 01 FFL, a Pawn Shop an 02 FFL, and a collector an 03 FFL. Different licenses for different purposes. In the case of a collector, it is so that the rifle does not HAVE to go to a dealer.

I believe you need to have the buyer send you a copy of his C&R before you ship and retain that copy for you records. I don't know how long you need to retain it.

Yes, you need a photocopy of his C&R license. And, you need to ship to the name/address listed. And, his C&R license address should match his drivers license address. If in doubt, you phone ATF to verify that he is legit.

You don't have to retain all the photocopies, but it's a good idea to keep them, just in case the police knock on your door & ask to see the gun.

Also, when you ship a copy of your d/l, make sure you use a sharpie to mark off your dob, drivers license number, and anything else that is un necessary to him. All a type 3 holder needs is your name and address. Too many people looking to make fake copies of drivers licenses out there for identity fraud..Most FFL's will now email a copy of their address along wit their FFL number which is easily checked, so that some can't fake a copy of their FFL with a new name and address..Type 3's need to be run thru the ATF though..

No. EZ-Check was specifically designed so that Type 03 FFLs cannot be accessed online. The reasons are simple: The licensed premises address is the same as the home address for 99.5% of all Type 03 holders. Having that type of personal information floating around the web would cause endless privacy issues. It is possible to verify a Type 03 FFL by calling the ATF Licensing Center in Atlanta, but response won't be instantaneous.

I see no need to worry about verifying a C&R license. ATF is not worried about it; if they are happy, then I'm happy.

Of course, I would always request a drivers license photocopy from someone with a C&R, just as I would if transferring a gun to a dealer I did not know.

EZ Check was developed because, about 30 years ago, there were a couple of criminal cases involving altered dealer FFL's. Since then, nothing.

You may want to check and ensure state law allows for direct shipment of a C&R eligible gun directly to the C&R holder. CA doesn't allow it for handguns, and requires that a C&R holder also have a CA issued "Certificate of Eligibility" to directly receive long guns via shipping. CA may be among the worst, I'd be surprised if they were the only state doing so, in some fashion.
