John normally won't appraise H-S's, as far as value is concerned. Unless he's changed his policy recently? I've been on his forum a number of times. Where folks have asked him to value H-S's.

The most he will do, is to explain. Their relative rarity, using the data he has acquired over the years. He has set-up tables of rarity, for all H-S variations. Dating back to the early 30's. Using these tables, it's possible to ascertain ballpark values of certain models.

Like in every other form of collectable. Rarity doesn't absolutely correlate, as far as value is concerned. Collector demand is the major factor. As far as value of a particular H-S model.

An old article I wrote about these pistols.

    http://www.histandard.info/King/SGV.pdf

I have eight with two purchased in the last 18 months.

Price is pretty much determined by rarity with condition a secondary consideration. The more common ones go for $2,250. to $2,500. The scarce versions bring $3,400. to $3,600.
