carcano youth training rifle?

hello, recently pick up what looks at first to be a miniature replica of an Italian carcano rifle? others are saying that it is a youth training rifle. too small for an adult trainer. has a creast, cartouches, serial #, and stampings just like the full size rifle. all working parts and bayo. 30 inches overall. believe this thing shot blanks? this thing is super cool! anyone know anything about these little gun, please let me know. info is not plentiful, thanks

Drill rifle that only shoots blanks. Made for the Italian Fascist Youth Party. That's all I can remember, other than there wasn't a whole lot made, and most came home with returning GI's after the war. A bit rare, you see clean examples in the $400 range for sale.

There was an article in Firearms News edition before last about Italian Arms of WW II. In it there is a photo of a youth formation with these scaled down Carcano's.

I believe these were referred to as "school rifles". As previously stated, they were a reduced scale blank firing gun used to familiarize the little Fascists as to the future handling of military arms...from the results achieved in WWII by the Italian military forces I would have to say it was a complete failure.
