Is there enough wood in a standard stock that can be opened up to fit a bull barrel?

I've got a Shaw bull on mine and the re-inletting was easy and there is plenty of wood left for appearance sake.

Additional: Good point on the barrel band. I just left mine off at the suggestion of the guy at Brownell's. With the action screw you have plenty of support for the stresses of a .22 functioning and it provides a free-floated barrel, if you cut the channel for it.

You can make your 10/22 worls class ...

But yes. Using the carbine stock you'll need to either sand out the barrel band too or just don't use it.

I like to wrap 80grit or so sandpaper around a 1" wood dowel and use that as a sanding tool.
