Factory ammo for M&P 38 special?

I don't reload so I'm looking for some safe factory ammo for a 5" S&W M&P 38 special. I'm sure most wad and semi wad cutters would be fine, but what about some jacketed ammo or even hollow points? I know to stay away from +P ammo. Some ammo I'm considering shooting is Blazer 38sp or Winchester White box 38sp. I also have some 800fps hollow point reloads from a local range. What would be the max safest fps to shoot in this gun?

Any standard .38 Special ammo ought to be fine in it. Being a K-frame gun, it can probably handle +P's; but, given the age and older metallurgy, it might be wise not to do so.Never be hesitant to ask questions about safety. "Accidents" are the best ammo that anti-gunners have to use against us.

Thanks for the responses. I'm pretty sure the gun was made after the 30's. The gun in good condition. I'll probably shoot wadcutters first to test out the functionality and accuracy then, if all looks good, move up to a little hotter ammo. I will probably not shoot +P through it. As for reloading, that will probably be my next project. I have a variety of guns in a variety of calibers that might benifit from a personal hand loaded touch. I need more garage/workshop room first.Roy
