Look at the flat top "Dissipator" style 16" barrel carbine having a chrome lined or a stainless barrel. It has the longer sight radius of the 20" rifle and the handiness of the carbine. Also get a spare flat top upperhaving a 20 or 24"ss barrel with an 8"pitch rifling for long range tack driving.A target trigger is essential. If you want best accuracy, install a free floating handguard.

People seem to make a big fuss about the Les Baer AR-15. It's $1800 if the most expensive AR is your goal. Did read a pretty good review about it, but have never seen one in real life. http://www.forthehunt.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=2411428

Armalite makes a very fine AR-15. Excellent worksmanship, very accurate, and mil spec. Both mine are fantastic. The A1 model will easly hold to 1.5 MOA and my target rifle (Eagle Eye) does sub-MOA all day long.I hear the Bushmaster is comparible, but I have not owned on of those.

Wilson combat has what they call the Tactical Urban Carbine that's guaranteed 1 MOA for around $1500 MSRP.

I have been looking at the DPMS sweet 16 for a while. Seem to be pretty good rifles. They are also in the lower price bracket.

Glad you asked. I got a bull barrel ar for accuracy. Olympic Arms Ntl Match everything for just under 800 bucks. I wanted a half inch group at 100 yards. No way. It just would'nt do it, but it came close. I load my own and I KNOW my ammo is extremely well done. I also test various loads and specs to find what the rifle likes best, then make a bunch exactly that way. I broke down and bought a Rock River Upper with a heavy barrel, but not the one inch thick anchor on the first one. It makes a half inch group and cost 525 bucks. I am tired of hearing milspec this and that.Armalite does not have chrome chambers or bores. They don't have GI parts. They do make good AR15s.cpermd
