can you identify this magazine with an EAGLE?

I have searched the internet for 6 months trying to figure out what this magazine goes to. I was told it's a .38.

Photos are large so I posted a link. They show all details including size. Thanks for any help.

Its not a .38 cal mag. It might be for the .45 caliber Reising submachinegun made by Harrington & Richardson back in the 40's.

Well best I can tell is that it is a M3 Grease Gun mag, http://www.ammoclip.com/G/grease_gun.htm

I do not know why it has been shortened or if it is a factory 10 rd mag. I do not know what the eagle stamp is for either.

    Edit:

Well the reason people cut down GG mags was for states that have restrictions on mags over 10rd. Some also cut them down to keep in there Mac 10 pistols to be more compact when carried.

I am about 99.9% sure it is not a Reising mag since they look like, http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/Reising/MagComparisonSide.JPG

All of your are so intelligent when it comes to all of this stuff. I purhased a box of things at a sale and this was in it. I looked at the web page you linked for me. Would this be illegal to sell? Thank you for your help.

Well if it is only 10rd, as it appears, there are no states that restrict the sale of mags 10rds or under.

So other then that restriction yes it is legal to sell.

The Reising mags were made in 12 and 20 rounds. All of the M3 Grease gun mags I have seen were 30 rounds. As Nwcid said, I dont know why someone would shorten a 30 rd Grease gun mag.

It is for sure a staggered column magazine meaning the rounds are not stacked "in line" directly on top of each other, but staggered to the side to accomodate more rounds.

If, as I suspect, its a Reising mag, it holds either 12 or 20 rounds.

Is the stamping "Staatspolizei"? The German post-war troops were outfitted with US hardware. If the post-war german home-defense force were allotted max. ten rounds in their weapons, the pieces fall together in this puzzle. Joe

There are NO markings on thi magazine other than the two headed eagle with the spread wings. Any suggestions for a title when I do sell it?

I'd almost bet Laredo Lefty got it with is answer the Reising submachine gun, but that double headed eagle is a Russian arsenal stamp, so I'm not sure what it's for. .I claim the 5th! *G*

    Reising mag

    GG mag

    OP's mag

    Sten mag

    stenmag.jpg

HHHHHMMMMMMM well after looking at them in this manner I just noticed that the OP's mag does not have the mag catch like the GG gun. I was thinking it could be a Sten mag since they are a 9mm version of the GG mag but they also have a mag catch notch. While there is no side mag catch notch the rear of the OP's mag is slightly different then the GG or Sten mag. Now I am not sure.

    UPDATE:

I posted this on another site and here is the response I got:

This is an Enfield America or Encom mag. Also fits the CMP 45. All the mags were made for the MAC10 - 45 mag die with one extra step which is the cut in the back so it will lock into thier guns. CMP produced all of these guns in Atlanta GA on and off for about 15 years. They also produced a 9mm version of the Enfiled America and the Encom. There are even cabine versions of these guns.
