I inherited this break top in .32 S&W Short from a aunt-It says Eastern Arms Co on the top and a serial number in the 10,000 range on the butt. I know it's not worth much but I was wondering if any of you have heard of this company. The trigger return spring is broken as I can cock it or fire it double action but the trigger will not return to the normal position. I'm sure it would cost more than the gun is worth to fix it-but hey it was an inherited gun so I can't complain

A gun question- Friends have a .32 Smith & Wesson revolver. They have a box of shells which is labeled ".32 S & W Long". Are all .32s the same, or is there a standard .32, and a .32 long? Can either be fired in a .32 revolver?

They are not the same length so a revolver chambered for the .32 S&W can't handle the .32 S&W Long. On the other hand, any revolver that fires the .32 S&W Long will also fire the shorter .32 S&W.

They both have the same chamber pressure so if it fits, fire it.

    Awright, lookit...

There are two cartridges, the .32 S&W (which is not called "short" even though it is a pretty short round) and the .32 S&W Long.
The old topbreaks are for .32 S&W, the Hand Ejectors (swing out cylinders) are for .32 S&W Long but will shoot .32 S&W just fine.

The .32 Short and Long Colt have been obsolete for around a hundred years.
