S/W MP 15

I've been wanting an AR since the bug bit last year and I've located a new Smith MP15 locally for $800 which seems like a good price. I've been planning on a DPMS sporter until I saw this one. Anyone have any input on the two?

The bug is really biting hard now...

Thanks, Mike

I have a M&P15T and it is a pretty nice rifle.

I don't much like the front sight mounted on the handguard, but I will be fixing that.

I like them. I have the 5.45x39 version which shoot cheaper ammo and has the same results.

I enjoy mine thoroughly, and it has been 100% reliable. It is an older model that was manufactured by Stag for S&W. I've heard that S&W has brought the manufacturing in house, but someone here can address that issue and potential quality issues with the switch better than I.
