I have a green label AR-15 and it is model 6550.
It is marked "COLT AR-15A2 Gov't Model" but it doesn't have a bayo lug.
It was the only one I could find at the time.
I called colt and the only thing they would tell me was it was made in 1990.
Can I replace the barrell witha 20" Colt barrell that has the bayo lug?
Can I just replace the Front sight wth a Colt sight that has a bayo?
I know the stories about the .22 cal conversion kits on some models and they did not come with the bayo.
Would anyone know If I did change it and is it possible/
Will the Rifle be worth less?
I paid 1200.00 for it. I just can't get past the NO BAYO>
HELP PLEASE.

    It can be added.
John Norrell does it for $100.
I am sure others do it.
    You can also change barrels.
It will bring a little more but not $100 more.

No. Rifle won't be worth less. Just keep the original upper, and buy a complete upper (bayo lug version). If you want to spend some extra money, that is, and not lose value on the original rifle. Best, Joe

But a new FSB and install it and be done with it. You will need one that is F marked.

You can replace anything you want, but a knowledgeable person will be able to tell. And, that will lower the value, especially if you do it yourself as you will likely damage the rifle in the process.

If it were mine, I'd leave it alone. If you are not happy, sell it & buy what you really want.
