I have been told that an skb 100 is a close to a win 21 as there is.

a win 21 is worth about 5 to 8 times what a ithaca 100 is in my neck of the woods. eastbank.

The ithica 100 is a good gun for the money but it's not in the league of the 21. You could, however spend your life hunting with the Ithica and not be missing that much and you'd be laying out $500 vs. $2500 for the 21 assuming run of the line 12 guage 26" ic/mod barrels in 85% condition.

I am not concerned with the price of a win 21,anyone knows a 21 cost more than a skb . I am asking about the handling and overall quality of the skb. Reason being I am offered a skb for 350. I know that when you pull on the trigger both guns go bang. Ken

Perry Shooter; the more I read your response the less I like it. The difference between steak and burger is obvious, what is the difference of a 21 and a skb? I have never handled either. Ken

What is the condition of the SKB?
$350 is dead cheap for one in excellent condition.
The least I see one for on the sales side is $400 and it shows a good deal of wear. If you did not like the way it handled, you could probably resell it for a profit.

The SKB is a good gun, buy it for $350. There is absolutely no comparison to a hand fitted Winchester 21 (all 21 were basically custom built guns).

You will speak of that no more! ...[:D]

Go here, and read for about an hour and then you may start to see the difference.

Clearly since the 21 is a low volume high quality collector piece it is apples and oranges. I own a 21 skeet and 4 SKB's. The 21 is very heavy in comparison not unexpectedly as Winchester used thicker stronger steel One of their early test guns went a million rounds without failure I read. The SKB is lightning quick, easy to carry and extremely reliable for a hunting gun My SKB 880 Trap gun has gone over 20000 rounds without a breakage or failure. SKB i9s one of the best values out there I believe

I have a couple of Ithaca 100's and a 200; all 20 ga. One of the 100's has been my pheasant gun for the last several years. They are light, seem well balanced, and are easy to carry and get into action quickly. The 200 was in rough shape when I got it. (It looked like it spent a lot of time in the bed of a pick-up with the rest of the tools!) I had the barrels cut to 24" to remove the chokes and refinished the stock and it's now my grouse/woodcock gun. The automatic ejectors are handy for that. The only trouble I've ever had with them is that 2 of the 3 will double occasionally for me (they won't do it for anybody else). The trigger is recoil set for the second barrel and I use mostly 3" shells for pheasants. Apparently there's just enough bounce, coupled with the way I handle the gun, that I'm hitting that trigger a second time a micro-second after the first.

As has been said, they are good guns. I bought mine shortly after they first came out when the dollar was worth a lot more so I paid a good bit less than the $350 mentioned but I think they are well worth that now. I have no experience with a 21--I've only seen one and didn't handle that.

I'd buy that gun if it was offered to me. Good luck.
