If you know any thing about this caliber being used in a shotgun I'd appreciate hearing from you. Is the round a slug? How does a .44 round compare with a shotgun gauge? Thanks.

Which 44 are you talking about? There is (was) a 44 "game getter" (the GG was designed for trappers to dispatch trapped critters) that was a smooth bore, and the shells were normally loaded with a round ball (cartridge was about the size of a 44Mag case, BUT loaded to much lower pressures).
Diameter wise the closest standard shotgun size would be the 410, but the 410 would carry a much larger payload.

Second row up, just left of the partition is a 44 Game Getter ball round, to it's left are 3 44Spl rounds and to the right of the partition is a 44 Mag round

Do you have a .58 caliber in your collection that you could point out to me. Is the .58 larger than a .410? by how much?

Do the math. Subtract .410 from .580. the difference is .170.
