Scope advice!

I have a Turkish Masuer (unk year) and I found a scope mount for a Mauser 98 and I was wondering if it would fit.
The place that has it gave a list of years that it would fit and I was also needing to know where to look for the year on my Mauser.
Final question, is it even worth putting a scope on my Mauser if the scope mount attachment will work?
Sorry this is so long, but i'm really need some advice.
Thanks!

I would not bother with the expense of scoping your particular Mauser unless your rifle has a good to better barrel bore. A scope will not make your rifle shoot better it will only help you shoot it better. If the rifle has bad bedding or a dark shot out bore then it is unlikely that a scope will improve it. For starters sit down and spend several days cleaning the barrel's bore and then inspect it.
People who start down the path of scoping a milspec rifle generally end up with a sporterized M98 which has little to no end value, not even original purchase price.
You may well be better off enjoying your Turk as is and saving your money for your next rifle. Good luck with it.....
Depends on what you want to do with the gun, what condition your gun is in, and what kind of mount you've got.
If its an old "beater" gun, and you have a rear sight mount that doesn't require any gunsmithing to install, I'd say, sure go scope it. You'll probably have more fun with a scoped gun. Scoped gun doesn't turn you into a sniper all by itself, but it certainly makes hitting things at distance easier than with plan iron sights.
But if its a drill-and-tap receiver-type scope mount, not only will you have to have a gunsmith do this work for you to install it, you'll ALSO have to have the bolt bent down so you can cycle the action.
Definitely NOT worth doing this to any old gun in nice shape since it tends to ruin the value of the piece. In a case like that, you're better off trading what you have for some OTHER gun that someone else has already "ruined".
