308 norma

I was in a gun shop this past weekend and they had a used Winchester Model 70 for sale chambered for the 308 Norma. Would I be correct to assume that Winchester never manufactured that model in that caliber and somebody rechambered the rifle after it left the factory?

Here is a site that has data for Winchester, IMR, and Hodgdon's powders. Click on the agree, then cartridge loads, then under type, rifle, then under caliber select 308 norma Magnum.

There are several loading manuals out like Sierra 2nd edition, Nosler 2nd ed., and the early Hornady's that have data also.

EDIT 1
Geri,
Yes, Reloader 22 is a good option, IMR-4350, and WW-760 have been good too, and I have had good results in the 7mm Rem mag, and 300 Win Mag, both of which have similar case capacities as the 308 Norma.
Please be specific by naming the powders for which you'd like information.
Best.
I think the powder type you're referring to are the double base powders which includes the component Nitroglycerin to the single base Nitrocellulose. There are other additives and newer formulas coming in from Switzerland but this requires a lot more information at the start.
ATK doesn't manufacture smokeless powder. It's a gigantic mega-corporation divided into divisions which are made up of hundreds of small companies. In this case, I'm guessing you are asking about Alliant Powder.
Here is the link to the recipe page for Alliant Powders:

As with most internet short form reloading guides, only the very most common cartridges are cited so I suggest e-mailing or calling Alliant to get some updated information or just go buy a used manual for your references.
Here is the link for Ramshot's guide:

Since The .308 Norma Magnum is not very popular here in the USA, you should look for some of the older manuals which will have listings for the Alliant powders but not necessarily the Ramshot powders.
I use a slightly compressed load of Re-22 under a 180 grain Nosler Partition. I have also tested some of the Hunter powder using the same components but the percentage of case filling was a tad low for me. I tried Magnum and it was a bit on the slow side.
Call the companies to see what information they have on hand.
Best.
