If you are referring to Steyr built Mannlicher Schoenauer sporting rifles/carbines: No.

The question is regarding the Mauser M98 system not anything more.

With the safety to the left the rifle is fully functional, ready to fire.

With the safety in the UP position the firing pin is locked but the bolt can be actuated.

With the safety to the right the firing pin is locked and the bolt is locked.

    Best.

so on mannlicher models , gewher comm 88 etc. the safety up puts rifle in safe
and locks bolt, also safety right puts rifle in safe and bolt locked,
sort of redundant no? is there any additional feature with safety right?

Checked out the 12 O'clock safety position on my Mannlicher Schoenauer 1908 and the bolt remains locked in place - assume the same for the rest of the earlier MS's.
