Mossberg 500 magazine extension

I just signed the paperwork today for my first shotgun, a Mossberg 500. I'm already shopping around for accessories. I've seen many after-market tube magazine extensions for other popular shotguns such as the Remington 870 and others, but none for the Mossberg. Why is this? You can easily get just about every other after-market accessory for it. Why not this?

The way the barrel attaches to the gun is by screwing into the end of the magazine tube. The barrel on the Remington, sleeves over the mag tube and a cap screws on the end to hold it and the spring in place. They way the system is designed on the Mossberg, you can't extend the tube. Mossberg does offer a longer tube model 500 as well as the 590. Both of those hold more rounds, but you can't just extend the tube. You can replace the entire tube with a longer one from Mossberg, but that is expensive since you have to go with a completely different barrel at the same time. Basically you are stuck with the tube length and capacity that you have without going into a lot of hassle and expense. Sorry.

Thanks for the info. I'm extremely happy with gun in it's stock configuration, just curious. With many of the weapons I own, particularly the SKS's, attaching "gatchet" items likes higher cap mags, after-market stocks, etc. doesn't improve the overall function. I always seem to go back to the original configuration.
