What is the difference from a 9MM Mak. and a 9mm Parabellum? Or is there a difference? thanks,Oro

    9mm makarov's are 9x18 and the parabellums are 9x19

    There are significant differences other than the casing size . . . The Makarov (9x18) has a muzzle velocity slightly lower than the Luger (or Parabellum) (9x19), but the real difference is in the energy deposited. Muzzle energy for the Mak averages 200 ft pounds,, whereas the Luger round has a muzzle velocity averaging 350 foot pounds! This makes the Makarov slightly (very slightly) more effective in terms of stopping power than the .380 auto, also called the 9mm short (9x17). Hope this helps.

    The Makarov has a larger dia. about .364 as compared to .355 of the 9m/m also length is 18 m/m instead of 19 m/m for the 9 m/m.Hope this helps.
