I can't find what I'm looking for so please help me out. Is it not required by ATF that firearms are required to be shipped to the "PREMISIS ADDRES", as opposed to shipping to my mailing address which is a post office box. I routinely receive guns at my POB. THX HAWKSHAW

I know this is a much repeated post, however I have a brother who is need of a deer rifle. And I was thinking of "mailing him a rifle to Ft. Rucker Alabama. He lives on post "helo pilot" anyway there is a gunshop in a small town near him. What do I need to do to get it to him?

I am not sure, but I do not think a soldier is allowed to keep a weapon on base. Since your brother lives on the base, you may want to verify that before you send him a gun. Then again things may have changed in the last 10 years.Boomer

You will have to send the rifle to an FFL holder to be transferred. There may be one on post (rod & gun club, etc). I have never seen a Stateside base that did not allow personal firearms. There may be storage restrictions though. If he lives in family housing, there should be no problem. If he is in a BOQ, it depends on the Post Commander's policy.

Thanx EODGUY, He has a new double wide which is located in a post "mobile home park" due to shortage of Family Housing. He is going into town today to get the info from the gunshop about sending it to them. What kind of fee's should they charge?

The internet auctions have lists of ffl dealers who will receive firearms and the fees they charge. I would check the lists and contact one who is one the list. These dealers should be familiar with regulations. All ffl dealers don't know the rules and some impose additional restrictions of their own.

Fees for accepting a firearm vary according to state regs and paperwork requirements, and the desire of the dealer to maximize his profit. I've seen fees from $10-$60, or more. Most dealers in my area refuse to accept such shipments, as to them it means one less gun that they will sell from stock. This is why it is worthwhile to patronize your local gun shop, even when you could buy a gun at Walmart for less; you never can tell when you may need a favor.Neal
