My Grandfather recently died leaving me a pistol he took off a german soldier in WWII, there are no identifying marks on the gun except for the number 292 stamped on every piece. I am not even sure what the caliber is.I have tried unsuccessfully to find an index of WWII fire arms that includes this weapon. Please help.

Like to help, but you dont even give us a caliber to work with. What type of action? Caliber? Are you SURE those are the ONLY markings, not even proofmarks?

the diameter of the barrel is 0.312 in. I don't know what caliber that would be. It is a silver semi auto hamerless pistol with clear plastic grips. I don't know what to look for in regards to proof marks. I think it is an 8mm but I am not 100% certain. I found a picture of a pistol manufactured by Retolaza Hermanos, Eibar. This gun is exactly like mine. The only info I could get from the site is that the pistol is Spanish, manufactured in the WWI era. It's cal. is 7.65mm. It might be called Rotolaza Hermanos "Paramount." If any one knows anything about this weapon, please fill me in.
