Am wanting to rebarrel a model 70 270 wsm. what is the reccomended rate of twist needed in case i wanted to shoot something as heavy as a 150 or 160 grain bullet. Also want to know if a barrel with that twist rate will also shoot the lighter bullets accurately? Am planning on taking it to colorado next year to hunt elk. but want to shoot the lighter bullets for whitetail. by lighter bullets i mean the 130 grain.

    bullhauler,

Commercially, the 10" twist is used in virtually all barrels. Shilen's site says to use a 10" twist for all weights and Dan Lilja has a 12" twist available for lighter bullets only.

    Regards.
