bushmaster vs colt

The news keeps talking about the pres. of bushmaster. I thought the AR15 was made by colt. Whats the Deal?

    I'm interested in getting one of the new Bushmaster AR-15 9mm carbines. Is there much difference between the colt and bushmaster AR-15 in 9mm. The major difference I see is about $1200 for the colt and $850 for the Bushmaster. Is one better than the other? Any opinions are welcome.

    AR15 is a trademark of Colt.
    The rest of the AR clones are generally called AR15 as a generic term.
    There is not an ounce of difference in the performance but the Bushmaster does use MilSpec pins and fire control parts.
    Colt does not.
