Reddot scopes question

Question about Reddot sights

I have an inexpensive reddot on a Ruger Airhawk. It works well, but not in bright sunshine on white or light targets, I can't see the reddot. Is this typical of all reddot sights or just the cheap ones? Maybe it's my eyes.
The reason I'm asking, is I'm looking to buy a Matchdot for my Ruger MarkIII target. I don't want to shell out $200 or so dollars on a product I can't use in the sunshine. Can anyone help with this question?

It all depends on both the scope maker and the lumen of the red dot some makers put a polarizing filter as part of the package so target looks dimmer and dot looks brighter and others like a GILMORE 35 MM has a 300 lumen dot it is Bright on the brightest day,

I have a Tru-Glo (cheapo), C-more, and Docter MRDS. The first two are adjustable brightness, the Docter is auto-adjusting. I have not had that issue with any of them, assuming you crank up the brightness and have fresh batteries.

I think you may just need to find a store where you can try one out and see if it works for you. You might also try out different sized dots in the reticle, maybe a larger one would help, like a 5+ MOA (of course that means the dot covers more of the target at long distance).

Thanks for the encouraging replies, I can resume my shopping.
I just wanted to be sure I'd be able to see a reddot at the range.
    Thanks again, Tony

I was hunting over the weekend with a Bushnell M&P 1x32 red dot. At sunrise I couldn't see anything as I was facing east. Until the sun was some 40 degrees over the tree any sight would have been useless. Once the sun was out of my sight line it performed well all day. If you have a question as to being able to see the one you want ask the seller if you can look at it outside the store in the bright sunlight. If the seller wants to make the sale he'd let you do it.
