remington 870 jamming fix

If you are having a problem with 870 jamming my problem was with a small piece of slider breaking of where the shells eject. Its cause by impact of firing allowing the barrel to articulate slightly and break the top slide by the eject spring.Just used a dremel tool to take the edge of the upper rail.Just contour the upper rail like the lower one and its a permanent fix, never had a problem after.Got pics if anyone needs them.

wpage, something I have run into on several Older 870's is the forward corners of the ejector housing are squared rather than having a radius.
The rim of the hull will hang up before the rest of it is extracted from the chamber causing it to FTE.

It would be item 17 in the diagram.

This may be what fowleg is referring to and is indeed an easy fix.

Had a look at the diagram "asphalt cowboy"and yes its part 17 .Just as you said there no radius ,just put one there.I think the piece breaks of due to the magazine cap not being absolutely tight. The barrel impacts with it at some time .I will post the pics tomorrow.

I'd appreciate pics if you have them. This problem is maddening but sounds simple enough to fix. Thanks much. quote:Originally posted by fowlerg
