That serial # looks like it belongs to the Police Positive Special Series. Which was available in 32 caliber. Does the barrel markings say Special? It would be 1924 if a Police Positive Special.

It is a 2nd issue with 1926 patent date. That is why i'm confused. It should be dated after 1927 but I see no serial # range with .32, .38, or Police Positive Special. It has the short cylinder.

It's possible that your serial numbered frame had been in storage for a number of years before it was assembled with the .32 Colt NP cylinder and barrel. Just because the serial numbered frame was manufactured in 1924 or 25 doesn't mean that Colt had it assembled into a functioning revolver that same year. My 2?.

thanks. i'm seeing that more and more dealing with these old colts especially transitioning from 1st to 2nd issue revolvers. i guess the only sure thing is a letter from colt on this one.
