Loads for Diamondback .380

Simple Man

Took my little Diamondback to the range and shot some 102 Golden Sabers through it. The bullets would jam almost everytime and i would have to remove the mag and carefully remove the unfired round. Could it be the bullets or do I need to sell my little pocket pistol?

Use to load and shoot a lot of the 102 grain GS's. For a HP bullet, with their rounded noses they fed very well. Might try another brand of HP's though to see if the problem is unique to the GS's.

Never shot this particular gun, but I'll note two things:

-Lots of the little .380s don't like hollowpoints, and

-Pretty much ALL of them are unreliable out of the box, with most improving in reliability somewhat with breakin.

Unfortunately, an extended 500 round gun break-in becomes pretty painful with .380 ammo running around $30/50 round box!

For you, repeated feeding jams imply that the problem is with bullet shape/design. I'd suggest switching to a good brand of ball ammo and seeing what happens.

Try Hydro-shocks, they feed fine in my little Bersa 380 concealed carry. [img][/img]

Fiocchi feed good in my Kel-Tec, when silvertips wouldn't.

Get either FMJ's or Hornady Critical Defense or Corbon Powerball loads--as the others have said most little .380's don't do so well with hollowpoints. The Hornady and Corbon loads solve that problem and give you an expanding load to boot. I have fired over 150 rounds of the Hornady through my LCP without a hiccup as they have a fmj profile. Hornady's generally run under $22 a box.
