Wondered if the 520 & 620 barrel assemblies will interchange? I.E. Will the 520 barrel assembly fit the 620 receiver and visa-versa? Are the milled mortise cuts the same for both? Do you know of any other parts that are identical to both types?

Supposedly in the 1930's, after Savage took over Stevens. They brought out the 620 as a new improved model. With the 520 being dropped. Don't believe the barrel assemblies, were interchangeable between 520 & 620.
Strangely during W W II. Stevens restarted production of the 520, as a trench gun for the U.S. military. Always puzzled me, why they made so many 520 trench guns. It having been discontinued, prior to the war. While so few 620's were utilized as trench guns. Maybe it was just a case of them cleaning out the stock rooms. Of old obsolete parts. This is why, I doubt the barrel assemblies are interchangeable.
