Remington 514, 1940 or 1962?

I bought a Remington M514 today. It has the shorter 19.5 inch barrel and is about 36 inches long. The stock has a glossy reddish hue to it that looks original. I've seen other Remington's with this stock finnish. No serial number and the barrel date code is LJ. This would make it either 1940 or 1962. Which do you think is the correct date of manufacture? What do you call the shorter barrel version; carbine, youth, or boys rifle? Thanks for any information.
Update: I found the information I needed on another site. Boy's Rifle. 1962
