    Hey all,
I was looking at a Ruger .480 and comparing it to the taurus .480. I am a Ruger guy, but am a little bit skeptical about the things I have been hearing about their 6 shot cylinder vs. the Taurus 5 shot. I have heard that some have experienced problems witht the cases overlapping each other due to the thinner walls in the cylinder. Anybody with any experience or knowledge on this topic? Thanks.

I HATE recoil, and having said that; I personally like the factory 480's versus the ones I make (not enough to reach 200 yds.).Only you can judge whether you have enough gun. If you like the short, sharp spank from a .44; you'll REALLY like the .480!I traded a fullhouse super redhawk for it!

Biggest bite is when you open your wallet tobuy ammo. At least with the .454 Casull youcan use .45 LC. I still have the concern that if this cartridge doesn't catch on youwill be left with no ammo. You will also have the problem that very few stores will stock it. It may even be more difficult tofind bullets if you reload.

You may want to read the May 2001 Gun Tests magazine review of the Ruger .480 www.gun-tests.com

I have read a few evaluations on the gun and just finished another. They say it has 50% again more energy at the muzzle than the 44, that the recoil is manageable if youre use to shooting 44s. Its nagging me if I like how close the cartridges fit in the cylinder. One article said that if there is the slightest variance in case head size that it may create a situation of hard to load cases, even a bur or nick on the case head can prevent loading , I dont know though. Taurus has a 5 shot though, that wouldnt have that problem. I guess you have to ask yourself if you really need more power than your 44, I dont, but I want it anyway.
