On a post ban you don't get a flash suppressor or bayonet lug for driveby bayonetings. No big deal. I would buy either colt or bushmaster just because of resale value even tho other brands are good also.

SMG, you are incorrect. There is no restriction on what magazine you can put into a post-ban gun. As long as you don't modify a 10 round magazine to take more than 10 rounds, you're fine. If your assumption was correct, several dozen manufacturers would have been closed by now for including high capacity magazines with their post-ban guns from the factory. Beretta, Taurus, EAA, Intratec, Glock, the list goes on and on. All of these companies and many more, have at one time or another, included high cap mags with their guns made since 1994. Obviously they would not and/or could not have done so if your assumption were correct. This is "ask the experts" forum. If you don't know the correct answers please refrain from putting out erroneous information. People are asking for help here. I realize that may be what you have been wrongly told, but it is in fact incorrect. I don't mean to be hurtful, but it is tough enough keeping everyone on the right track with the right information. Putting out wrong information just complicates things. I realize in California there are a lot of bizarre rules and regulations that apply only out there. I make no asumption of understanding them or even trying to, they give me a headache as well as a heartache. Seeing rights taken away out there seems to be a daily thing. What you describe may be a California specific thing, but it doesn't apply to the rest of the country, not yet, hopefully not ever.

If you can get a pretty good deal on a post ban but want some of the preban look, I see Wilson is offering to install a muzzle break that looks somewhat like a flash hider. Still leaves you without the bayonet lug and tele stock. I could do without the latter two and I'm guessing I'm not the only one who doesn't like those post-ban barrels with nothing at the end or most of the other muzzle breaks.

I've got a pre-ban Colt Sporter (AR-15). It doesn't have a bayonet lug either (Colt got politically Correct before the Ban), but it does have a flash hider. The bigest deal about pre/post ban is what kind of accessories you can get. Some of the Pre-ban uppers won't fit a Post-ban lower. With a Pre ban gun you can pretty much add any accessory that you want.

check out the bushmaster websight. They now make a M-4 that looks like a preban barrel, stock and all. I bought one and it shoots great. Tied two 30 round mags together and good god gertty what a blast. Just my 2 cents.

irarmsx You are right I should have stated that in california they passed a law sb23 in 99 that makes it a crime to have assembled an assault weapon it requires that the weapon have 2 things the pistol grip being the first mark against you. You add over 10rnd, mag you have manufactered an assault weapon. Take a mini 14 install a folding stock and over 10 rnd. mag and again you have made an assault weapon fyi some other qualifying bad parts are bayo.lug ,flash supressor, grenade launcher, pistol grip. thumb hole stock. Please excuse me for not thinking about the whole country since all my gun biz. is in california I answered this question 1000 times since 99 And if Iam not mistaken there might be a few states that are as bad as Ca. In the future I will take this into consideration before answering
