I'm thinking about adding another firearm to my collection. I have narrowed it to these three. Any thoughts?I will use it primarily for IDPA matches if that helps.

NEVER TRIED THE HK, ONLY THE G21 AND P220. WITH WHAT I KNOW, I WOULD GO WITH THE SIG. IT'S SMOOTHER AND MORE ACCURATE. GD

    I have a Glock 29 10mm and a HK USP Compact .45
The glock feels great in my hand, functions well, reliable, accurate(at 25 and 50 yards). I have the night sights and the lasermax internal laser. It is a great carry weapon. It has a very durable and has a smooth finish. My only complaint is the touchy mag release button.
The HK USP is a great gun too. Accurate and dependble. More versatile..too. I have variation 1. Var 1 offers DA/SA/Decocker/Cocked and Locked. You can also cycle the slide with the safety on. I love the features of the gun. I also love the mag relase of the HK. It is a ambidextorous safety that is protected by the trigger guard. It moves toward the ground(vertically), vs. the standard horizontal moving mag button. Mag changes are just as easy...but unlike the Glock, my mags never pop loose. I conceal carry in front inside the pants...so my belt hits the mag button on the Glock when I sit down....SO THE HK REPLACED MY GLOCK AS MY CARRY WEAPON.
I have found no flaws with the HK except a slighty long and heavy DA trigger pull, but the SA pull is good.My only desires for the HK would a internal laser and the Glock's finish on my HK....but I don't see either happening.
Everyone I know who has a Sig seems to be happy....even the CopsI want to get a Sig too....in 357 sigand I need a Walther P99 in .40S&W
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three...but a true gun nut like myself would not decide which of the 3 to get...But what order to buy them in.Goodluck

You may want to read the May 2001 Gun Tests Magazine review of the SIG 220, HK USP 45 and the S&W 4566TSW. Although the Glock 21 was not mentioned in this comparative test, it has received good reviews in other articles. By the way, in this test it liked the 220 best.

I have all three (although my "P220" is a Browning/SIG Sauer BDA, which is the same thing except for the butt magazine release). They are really quite different.I do not like the Glock grip angle, nor its lack of a safety. I like its 13-round magazine capacity. The SIG is a great gun, but seems to me to kick more than the others. It has no safety, which I do not like. Its magazine holds only holds 7 rounds, or 8 in later magazines. The H-K USP (I have the full-size) is my favorite of the bunch. I have installed an ambidextrous safety on mine, making it a V-2. (Easy to do.) I like the safety action. One can carry it cocked and locked; hammer down, safety off; or hammer down, safety on. The safety lever will also decock the pistol if pushed all the way down. H-K claims the recoil spring system reduces recoil. It seems that it does to me. Ten-round magazines are standard with the H-K, and there are a surprising number of civilian 12-round magazines available as well. I would suggest you also look at the Para-Ordnance LDA. Based on the Government Model/M1911, it is a great pistol. Its 14-round magazine is a big plus, and the trigger action is wonderful.Really as good as any of the above, and vastly cheaper, is the EAA/Tanfoglio Witness. If you can find one of the pre-ban 140mm or 170mm magazines that were available in the past, you will have a very high magazine capacity, but in a somewhat awkward configuration. Otherwise, the standard 10-round magazine capacity is certainly adequate. Buy Mec-Gar aftermarket magazines, which are far superior to the standard magazines now shipping with the pistols. The grip is, for me, the best of the bunch. The Witness can be carried cocked and locked, but lowering the hammer on a loaded round must be done manually and very carefully. (Put your thumb under the hammer as you pull the trigger to lower the hammer while holding it with your other thumb.)I suggest trying to shoot all of them before deciding. Your preference may not match the preferences of others who have offered their opinions.
