Okay rimfire experts...I recently acquired a single shot Anschutz rifle in 22 cal. It has a hooded front sight and what seems like a dovetail sight on the back(not sure). The only marks that i could find which would resemble a model is the number 62 on the left side of the barrel. The rife is etched in different places with the eagle commonly found on german pistols. Condition is about 95% with the exception of some wear on the stainless bolt. Also, I tried taking the receiver apart to inspect it and found out that this is one wierd but simple action.Did I spend too much on this ($70)? and any information about the rifle would be greatly appreciated.-Smooth

I'd say you got a deal. You don't say whether this is a target rifle or sporter but I would think $200 would be bare minimum for the least expensive Anschutz. I can't come up with a model 62. When I was in El Salvador I got to know a few members of the Salvadoran Olympic Smallbore Shooting Team and they all used the Anschutz. If I remember right the Model 1413. If yours is one of the target rifles, you can laugh all the way to the bank.

Need a little more info on it.All Anchutz have 4 digit model numbers so 62 is not it.If yours is clip fed 5 shot, bolt bent to the rear, Might be a Achiever.A good one goes for about $250-$275. Deal I would say so

john/22wrf, I took the rifle apart and was still unable to find any four digit serial number on it. I do have more info that might help some. It is a single shot bent bolt in 22lr, and defenitely not a target rifle. The barrel is contoured but almost undetectable in a glance...almost looks like a bull barrel. This rifle seems (based on the design) to be old. It also has factory taps for a scope mount.I can send you a picture of the rifle if you wish. Thanks for the help,-Smooth

I can't match this one with anything in my book and I have over 50Anschutz in there. The front sight doesn't match any other Anschutz. The stock doesn't havea Monte Carlo cheek piece which most Anschutz have. The scope mountholes look about right for a Weaver "N" mount. However the actionlooks Anschutz.Maybe you can get some info on it from one of these sites: http://www.championshooters.com/Anschutz-ms.htm http://www.pilkguns.com/euro/ansindx.htm [This message has been edited by 22WRF (edited 12-03-2001).]
