I recently purchased a GoldenRod Dehumidifier for my gun safe and there are no instructions for how long to leave it on for.I Fear leaving it on all the time as it will dry out my rubber and wooden grips.Any Info. or experienced comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Leave it on forever. I have been using Golden Rods for over 20 years and have not noticed any problems with wood or rubber. In fact, in one of my safes, I have 2 Golden Rods in it, just to make sure there is no humidity problems.

It stays on all the time. The element is quite small. You are not going to overheat the safe.Jeff

it only raises the internal temp. several degrees. The warmer air simply forces out the cooler air which is the "damper" air in the house. You won't dry out anything.

I have had safes for 20 years and have never used anything...18 of those years were in hot and humid Houston...and have never had any hint of rust. But I clean and wipe down my guns without fail after each shooting session.
