I read an article about all the different types of rounds that are made for the .223 or 5.56 calibers. I.e. explosive, and tracer rounds. obviously the explosive rounds are illegal for civilian use but are the tracer rounds available to the public?What other types of rounds are there?

    Yes you can purchase tracer ammuntion. Go to the Ammo section here and look. You can purchase many different types. Ball, Hollow Point, soft point, armor piercing, plastic, balistic tiped, frangable and on and on and on.

    Check the municipal and state regs where you live before attempting to buy. There are places where virtually any non-ball loading is illegal and others where there are no restrictions of any kind beyond the Federal regs.
