Ruger Super Redhawk

I was looking at the Super Redhawk in 454 Casull and 45 Colt. I know the 454 has alot of knockdown power, how does the 45 colt do as a hunting round? I was thinking of deer or hog hunts. I've never shot either round, I've shot lots of 44mag. though. Thanks.

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

The other day in a local gun/bait shop there was a Super Redhawk with a 9.5" barrel and a red dot scope for $370 in good condition. I didn't buy it, and I'm kicking myself in the butt for it. I can always save money later. I'm thinking of going back to get it if they still have it. $370 is a lot cheaper than I've seen them anywhere, is it that good of a price?

Just wondering if anyone knows if a ruger redhawk barrel will fit on a ruger super redhawk? Any info would help. Thanks

not sure if here to ask but might as well. have a super redhawk in 454 casull laoded up 45 colts and some casulls, the colts go off every time the casulls maybe 2 out of 3 will fire the first time. sometimes the casulls will fire the 2nd time.used lg pistols in the colts small rifle in the casulls as per speers manual. the unfired cases shoot fine out of my s&w 460. any ideas? thanks kevin

Two questions if I may.I bought this .44 used and didn't get a manual so as I was cleaning it with the grip off and I wonder how many springs and parts go flying if I pull out the plate and pin that the hammer toggles on? and second I usually don't but shot 50rnds of non jacketed wad cutters and am quite tired of trying to get the lead build up out of the forcing cone, when I was purchasing a new bronze bore brush(upgrading the aggressiveness from nylon) I noticed a lead removal kit that had round screen patches but i figured I better get some of the great input this board is so famous for before i do something drastic due to my laziness. Thanks drawn

Nothing will go flying, just be very slow about taking it apart, and remember how it came apart. Use a good cleaner and you dont need the screen. I use Butch's Bore Shine on mine.

Write ruger using the address on the barrel, tell them that you bought one used and are requesting their free manual. This worked for me, twice (two dif. models). The manuals I received are identicle to the ones they ship with their models.

Shooters Choice is certainly a fine solvent, don't know the other one. I too like Butch's Bore Shine.
