Yugo SKS help needed/can't get it apart

Bought a new un-issued Yugo SKS. What a beautiful piece. First one I saw un-issued and I bought it on the spot for a mint. The wood is a piece of art. This gun will never be fired. I will get a another Yugo shooter for that. Anyway........my question. I popped the trigger group out, took off the top cover, removed the bolt, the magazine..etc...etc.. I got the gun to the point where you should be able to remove the barrel and receiver. However it won't budge. I am beyond puzzled and have just finished staring at the thing for 30 minutes. Is there something different on the Yugo's? It looks like it should just pop out with no problem but it won't budge. The guy I bought it off of broke it down and cleaned all the grease out so I know it will come apart. It's an error on my part. There is something I am over-looking but can't figure out what. I have broken SKS's down over and over again. I followed the same pattern I always do. Maybe something I have to do to the grenade sights?( I flipped the grenade sight release button and tried it in both positions...grasping at straws).I thought about banging it on the floor to see if it's just extra tight but I don't want to hurt the gun since it's mint and besides that I am now 100% positive that that would not do any good. I have done a lot of pushing and palm slapping with no results. It if were just tight I would have seem some hints of movement by now. Still tight as a drum. I'm stumped. Any ideas or suggestions????

Just get a BIG HAMMER! ...Seriously, I would just ask the guy you bought it from if there is something different about the Yugo ...

? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

Can't ask the guy because I bought it at a gun show. If anybody ownes one of these drop your two cents in. At this point the big hammer idea sounds good kimber kid. I am to the point of frustration.

You have to take out the recoil lug assemblywhich is the cross bar in the forend of the stock. Use an adjustable spanner wrench or two good fitting punches in the holes and with a screwdriver spin off the circular nut. It may be staked so be carefull to avoid buggering up the holes and the finish. Then drive the crosspin partway into the stock. The crosspin cant be pushed all the way through and removed until the action is removed from the stock. Now start juggling and the action will come out. The bad takedown is the only negative featureof this great military rifle

Hello ,Well the big hammer was almost a good idea , we have seen a bunch of these that we had to take a non-metal non-marring (leather or rubber mallet) and just give it a few wacksto "break-it loose"....sometimes the first time one these is a little rough !!!!Good Luck !!!azgunnut2@yahoo.comd.a. stearns - gunsmithgallery sales , athens , tn

I also purchased one. Turned out to be excellent on the outside but poor bore. It disassembled just like any other SKS, but it did take a few smacks with a rubber mallet to separate the barrel and receiver from the stock. Not a different disassembly procedure, just a tighter fit.

I see what you are talking abou V35. I will not bother with it cause I am afraid I will mess something up, it being I have never attempted it before. The gun is good to go and clean, I just wanted to break it down and look it over real good. Once I get a yugo shooter and master the extra step I will them attempt it on the un-issued. Thanks for the input everybody.
