Case failure update

Few days back I posted pics of failed 6.5 Dutch Mannlicher cases and I think I've found the problem... the cases do show signs of excessive headspace BEFORE firing... that is a shiny band near the rupture area, and on pulled ammo, I feel a burr or ring or something in this area when probed. Also, I don't know what powder was used, but with a 160gr RN bullet, there was some 48 gr. of powder of flake type... like I say I don't know what powder was used so this could be fine, but suffice to say none of my load manuals show any powder charge over 40 gr for 160 gr bullets as being appropriate. I touched some off with a match in the back yard and it was very fast burning stuff. Also, 100 gr bullets were filled with some sort of extruded powder to the tune of 39 gr. This may be ok, but is still surely as stiff load for this rifle. It was slower burning. So to sum up, between using a very heavy powder charge and finding signs that the brass was once fired, from a gun with a lot of headspace, I think I have my answer. I'll try some new brass, maybe even pop for some expensive Bertram made to proper size in the factory.
