I have a buckmark and can shoot empty shotgun cases at 25 yrds with it! I had a ruger that I could not hit a bull in the butt with a barndoor and the bull standing in the doorway! The browning has the best trigger pull I have ever felt on a 22 pistol. No creep, no dragging , just clean crisp let off and can't beat the accuracy. Go for the Buckmark

I have shot both and I prefer (and plan to buy soon)the Buckmark. If you really like the Ruger, try the regular Mark II. I find the grip feels much better than the 22/45. -Marcus

There was this same thread a few weeks ago so you may go back a few pages & find it too.I have to agree the std mkII rates poor for accuracy in my book, but I prefer the bull barrel mkII over the Browning. I ended up putting the walnut target grips on mine and stoning the sear/hammer/trigger. As I said on the other thread, I've owned both and over the course of several years of shooting setteled on (not setteled for) the Ruger. Also all kinds of custom parts are avaiable for the Ruger ... not so with the Browning.

Don't need any custom option on the buckmark.already has nice rubber grips, adjustable sights, and bull barrel 5.5", you can get a scope mount and add a redot or halo sight if you want, but really nothing needed for a great shooting 22 out of the box, and besides its a browning

I have a KMK512 Ruger Mark II target with the 5.5" s/s bull bbl. I was in a similar situation a year ago looking at the Buckmark and Mark II Target(Did not care for the 22/45) and obvioiusly got the Ruger. Both are nice and you won't go wrong with any of them. Don't know which model Ruger Boomer had when he could not hit a bull's butt, but this Ruger can hit empty 20 ga shot shells at 50 yds, and that's no bull. My 9 year old girl can easily pick off those same shells at 25 yds. We loved it so much, we had to get another one. Now we don't have to take turns at the range. Nothing against the Buckmark, but the Mark II Target gets our vote. GD

Cool Beans. Any experience with the MK-II Slabside? I love those pretty wood target grips that the stainless version comes standard with. I'm not much of a gunsmith. Is there a renowned individual or institution where I can send my MK-II to get the sear/hammer/trigger stoned?[This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 01-26-2002).]

idsman75I bought my walnut grips at www.sarcoinc.com they are identical to those on the slabside ... $20. I stoned my sear/hammer/trigger myself, but www.brownells.com has a ton of custom parts for the MkII, including grips, trigger kits yadayadayada. Personally I didn't like the slabside's long barrel I have the 6" stainless target (adjustable sights, bull barrel and good trigger out of the box) ... another part I got from Brownells is the extended mag release, it has a little notch on the bottom that makes mag changes much faster ...
