Well, here I go giving away my age. I knew Annie Oakley personally. Annie and her husband, Frank, bought a house in Nutley, NJ in 1892 not far from where I live and stayed there on and off until 1904. The house was torn down in 1937. Annie and Frank both died in 1926.It's true that she, Frank and Buffalo Bill Cody all used Marlin rifles.Well, most of it's true -Charlie

Copied from: NRA Publication-AMERICA'S 1st FREEDOM, February 2002 issue.article pg. 30- "LITTLE {Annie} SURE SHOTAs one might expect, Annie Oakley loved firearms and owned hundreds. The .32-caliber was among her favorites and she leaned towards extremely plain Stevens pistols with walnut grips. Yet showbiz demanded a bit more pizazz and Annie also relied upon a Stevens spur-guard single shot pistol with a 10-inch gold plated barrel. The dead-eyed Ohioan also sported a pair of gold plated, pearl handled Smith & Wesson .44s.Her favorite rifles included a custom made lever action. 32/20 and a Marlin .22 repeater that she used to split an ace of hearts playing card. Favored shotguns were generally Parkers, first in 16 gauge, then 20 gauge, then finally 12 gauge due to universal availability of ammo. Annie also owned a 16 gauge double barrel L.C. Smith.According to her biographers, Oakley sought to remain impartial regarding the brands of guns used in public. She was always fond of Parker and turned to Remington and Winchester throughout her career. "I don't believe in using cheap guns," she said. "Guns should have strength, safety, balance, fit and ease of manipulation.SUPPORT THE NRA

I believe some of those lever guns she used for trick shooting were smooth bored for shot.
