just talked to a freind who said someone was telling him he had a shotgun to sell, stated it was a 12ga, 20"barrel, lever action with a 5 shot revolving cylinder, thought it was a remington or browning but was not sure. anyone ever heard of such an animal?

Never heard of a lever action revolving shot gun.!!The only revolving shotguns that come to mind are the junk Striker and Streetsweeper....and those operated like a DA only revolver.

haven't even seen it yet but i forgot to add he said it fired when the lever was closed kinda like the rifleman & the buttstock was made to place on hip not shoulder - sounds dangerous & wicked

Colt made 1,100 revolving shotguns (baised on the 1855 revolving rifle) between 1856 and 1864. It was available in 2 bore sizes, .60 and .75", and 4 barrel lengths, 27, 30, 33, and 36".
    Is someone making replicias?
If not, and it's origional it's worth a small fortune ($5600+ with only 10% of it's origional finish, about $13,000 with a 90% origional finish)
Just noticed it's a 20", which would knock the value way down, unless it had the Wells Fargo property stamp on it (and it can be proven that the stamp isn't faked).

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

yeah...but 1901's dont have revolving cylinders! see i told ya this sounded good! those old revolving shotguns are very collectible, but i wouldnt want to shoot one. the big complaint was your hand on the forarm would get burnt from gases escaping the cyl at the breech gap and youd get occasional stray lead embedded in them when the shot jumped across to the bbl from the cyl. and if you had a slow cooker and you revolved the cyl it could cook off down the side of the gun! remember, these old guns were genuine BP hulls! veeery volitile.
