44 cal American Bulldog ?

I've posted in the past looking for a loading gate for a 2nd model American Bulldog 44. I'm thinkin' these are rarer than hens'teeth. If anybody has has one (picture wise) that I can use as a pattern to make one, I would appriciate.

They are often missing. The simplest solution may be to fit one from a relic or junker Belgian gun if you can find one.

Does e-gunparts.com have drawings or a parts picture of the gun?

i doubt numrich has a parts drawing of this model. the only one i know of is in the iver johnson book i wrote. it is not to scale but it does show what they look like. the drawing is on page 129. the hardest part is going to be the small flat spring that goes with it as it is pierced at one end to allow the screw to go through.

There is steel you can make springs from...cut to size, then drill, then bend and finally heat treat.

I had to recheck, and I am fortunate enough to have the spring and screws. I guess I'll find a piece of stock and fire up the swiss-mill (file) and keep making chips until it looks right
Mr. Goforth has the same exact pistol on his website.

I don't know how much metal removing we are talking about, but if it is much a file will take awhile, milling is much better. You might want to check around...people are hurting for work.
